Electronic Government Directorate (EGD)
EGD implements different projects related to the Electronic Government (E-Govt)
Program. It provides technical advice & guidelines for implementation
of E-government projects at the Federal, Provincial and District levels. EGD
Plan and prepare Electronic government projects and provide standards for
software and infrastructure in the field of E-Government to undertake any
other assignment matter that the government may direct.

Telemedicine Projects
Telemedicine projects are meant to provide cost effective means for seeking consultation to citizens living in rural/remote areas of Pakistan. The scope of project includes advice and treatment to citizens living in rural/remote areas from specialist doctors based in big urban centered hospitals.
The following three pilot projects have been initiated:
1. MoIT- Health Net TM Project for Rural/Remote Areas in Punjab (Holy Family)
2. MoIT- Health Net TM Project for Rural/Remote Areas in Punjab (Mayo)
3. MoIT- Health Net TM Project for Rural/Remote Areas in Sindh (JPMC)
Benefits of the Projects:
Improving the healthcare facilities for identified rural/remote areas. Availability
of latest electronic medical equipment at remote hospitals identified for
the project will facilitate early diagnosis of even complicated medical conditions
and their effective treatment by specialist doctors without the need for patients
to travel long distances just to seek consultations in urban centers. Real
time monitoring of health problems and issues being faced by rural population
which will allow the government to launch targeted and focused healthcare
campaigns and programs. The project will also help in enhancing the professional
capabilities of doctors serving in rural hospitals through frequent interaction
with specialist doctors
MoIT- Health Net Telemedicine Project in Holy Family Hospital
Holy Family Hospital is main Hub for four remote locations. Hub is connected via satellite to its remote locations.
These are:
1. DHQ
Hospital Attock
2. DHQ Khushab
3. DHQ Gujrat
4. THQ Hospital Pindi Gheb
All of the above locations are connected to the Hub Holy Family Hospital.
