9th Postgraduate Course in Endocrine Surgery
(Simultaneous Tele Conference with Centers in Indian and South Asian Countries)
Organised by : Department of Endocrine Surgery , SGPGIMS, Lucknow, India.
12-15 November 2009
Endocrine Surgery, an emerging sub-specialty discipline of Surgical Science has been well developed in western world and other developed nations unlike in India and rest of the developing world. While the discipline of general surgery is fragmenting into disciplines based on the organ systems there is a need to develop infrastructure both physical and human resource to establish and sustain these disciplines. In India, compared to the other newer sub-specialties of general surgery, the endocrine surgery discipline is existing at a few centers only, either as stand alone or as unit of general surgery. Whatever the case may be, there is no doubt that there is a need to create trained professionals in this discipline to cater the need of the society which demands improved surgical quality care.
During the 9th Postgraduate Course in Endocrine Surgery in SGPGIMS, Lucknow, India, Telemedicine & e-Health Training Center, SU-II, Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan has participated as a key member of SAARC Telemedicine Network. Prof. Asif Zafar has delivered key note lecture on Hyperparathyroidism via video conference.
